Expressions of interest sought

Up to five historians will be granted full access to UK state records in a landmark study of UK Government policy during the Troubles, which will serve as a critical resource for academics, policymakers, and the public. The independent advisory panel invites historians to submit their expressions of interest through the following link.

What are official histories?

Official histories are commissioned by governments around the world, including recent examples in Australia, New Zealand, and parallel processes in the Netherlands, and Germany. They are written by eminent historians with unimpeded access to all official records, and – crucially – the freedom to write about what they find independently.
